ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: Katumbi Condemns Brutal Killing of Civilians in Kilwa by Tshisekedi Sponsored Wazalendo & FDLR Militia Groups

Democratic Republic of Congo’s main opposition leader Moïse Katumbi has strongly condemned the brutal killings innocent civilians by the Wazalendo and FDLR rebels sponsored by dictator president Félix Tshisekedi in Kilwa, Haut-Katanga Province.

On Thursday, at least 10 people were massacred on their return from a church program by Wazalendo and FDLR rebels who are financed by Tshisekedi to cause chaos in the country.

Katumbi expressed his shock over the barbaric incident and sent his message of condolences to the victims’ families.

“Life has lost all value in DRC! This Thursday, August 15, 2024 in Kilwa, around ten people returning from a prayer meeting and others present on site, including a student, were massacred,” Katumbi wrote on X.

“Once again, innocent people have just been savagely killed by armed men. Their only “crime” was walking while singing. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims.”

Katumbi further bemoaned the increased rate of the murder of innocent and defenseless citizens by groups who are funded by the government which is mandated to protect its population.

“Enough is enough! Yesterday, Junafec in Kilobelobe, the followers of Wazalendo in Goma, today the faithful of the Mbidi Church in Kilwa, the tragic trait common to all these atrocities is that each of these victims was unarmed. All these young people had faith in life and aspired to a better future,” he wrote.

The Ensemble Pour la Republique party leader also regretted the failure by the country’s judicial system institutions to protect the rule of law.

“The Democratic Republic of Congo is transforming every day a little more into a wild state, where neither law, nor rules, nor justice prevail,” he said.

“Criminal acts today seem covered by incomprehensible and unacceptable impunity. If justice is not served, our anger will only grow.”
