ELECTORAL CHAOS: Fayulu’s Supporters Block Road To Kinshasa Airport In Protest Of Unsatisfactory CENI Results

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s 2023 General Elections have continue to ferment chaos arising from the shambolic organization of the polls by the Independent Electoral Commission (CENI).

Opposition Lamuka Coalition candidate Martin Fayulu’s supporters have barricaded the road leading to Kinshasa’s Nd’jili International Airport in protest of the provisional results released by CENI on Friday night.

On Thursday, CENI released provisional results from the diaspora that showed incumbent Fèlix Tshisekedi taking an overwhelming lead.

Fayulu’s supporters, outraged by the several irregularities that have characterized the election, have since taken action by blocking airport road demanding for the invalidation of the results.

Tension continues to rise in Kinshasa as well as several other regions in the DRC while CENI prepare to release the second batch of results this Saturday.

Fayulu and other opposition candidates earlier called for the postponement of the DRC polls after noting a number of anomalies in the electoral process.
