ELDERS MEETING: Kabila & Obasanjo Convene in Harare

Former Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) president Joseph Kabila has met his former Nigerian counterpart Olusegun Obasanjo in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Obasanjo is one of the five “Wise Men” appointed by the African Union (AU) to spearhead the process of dialogue and peace between the Congolese government and other parties involved in the ongoing insecurities in the country.

The high-level meeting between the two iconic figures on the African continent was held in a discreet yet laden with symbolism and a message of recommitment to peace in the DR Congo.

The former Nigerian leader pleaded with Kabila to immediately return to the DR Congo and play a role in fostering peace in the country.
