Incarcerated former presidential candidate Jean-Marc Kabund says Félix Tshisekedi has betrayed and abandoned the vision they shared during his time in opposition.
Kabund who was sent to prison by Tshisekedi for allegedly insulting him, says the president has abandoned the mission serve the country and has been intoxicated by power.
“Yesterday we shared a vision and a sincere friendship. Today, the intoxication of power has distanced us, and I note with sadness a betrayal of the ideals that we defended together. Telling the truth to those you love is a proof of sincerity, but sometimes it has a cost,” Kabund wrote on X.
Kabund was Tshisekedi’s closest ally in the ruling UDPS party prior to his election as president before the former broke away from the party due to the indiscriminate and illegalities in the regime.
