DRC 2023 POLLS: Premier Lukonde In Lubumbashi To Launch Voter Registration

Democratic Republic of Congo Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde will be in Lubumbashi tomorrow to launch the registration of voters.

Haut-Katanga Governor Jacques Kyabula Katwe announced the development during the Provincial Council of Ministers held in Lubumbashi on Friday.

The former Katanga has four regions which include Haut Lomami, Tanganyika, Lualaba and Haut Katanga all of which account for over 15 million voters and the numbers could be more if the process is seamless.

Government spokesman Joseph Kayumba says the Governor has encouraged all the heads of the provincial executive to give a warm welcome to the Congolese head of government for the important exercise.

The Electoral Commission of the Democratic Republic of Congo (CENI) will officially launch the enrollment process in the second zone this week. The second zone includes Haut-Katanga. The first zone was launched on December 24, 2022.
