A senior member of the ruling UDPS has reacted angrily to Deputy Prime Minister of Infrastructure and former rebel leader Jean Pierre Bemba’s half-hearted commitment to support imposter president Felix Tshisekedi’s bid to change the country’s constitution.
Jean-Pierre Kalonji Mutambayi says Bemba’s failure to commit unequivocally his support for Tshisekedi shows he is a disloyal friend who was only interested in enriching himself.
Kalonji Mutambayi made the comment following Bemba’s appearance on ToP Congo during which for nearly two hours, the former rebel leader in incompetently talked about traffic jams in the capital and clarified.
Bemba, during the same programme also discussed the constitution, but gave no indication he will support Tshisekedi’s myopic idea.
“I would like to first tell you that Jean-Pierre Bemba wanted to confuse the issue (of the constitution) to try to dodge the real question: Is he still with Félix Tshisekedi and the UDPS? To this question, I can tell you that he did not convince. The former Vice-President has always harbored hatred against all Kasais despite the fact that his wife is Kasaian.
“He hides his feelings behind flattery. We are not fooled,” Kalonji Mutambayi said.
He says those who know Jean-Pierre Bemba know very well that if he never wanted a Kasai to rule the country.
“In his interview, he tried to make people believe that he had traveled to Gemena to meet Félix Tshisekedi and listen to his proposals. He even said that he had been convinced by his speech of December 10 and that it was for this reason that he joined the Sacred Union. In reality, at that time, Jean-Pierre Bemba did not have $20,000 in his bank account.
“He simply seized this opportunity to rebuild himself financially. We know that this is the only reason that led him to join the Sacred Union. Félix, must be very careful. Bemba is now trying to flatter him to become the next Prime Minister.
“Bemba wants to trap Felix Tshisekedi and lure him to eat him later. We, the Kasais and the biological family, will oppose his project,” said Kalonji Mutambayi.
