Popular Democratic Republic of Congo opposition leader Martin Fayulu has launched a campaign to defend the Congolese constitution following President Felix Tshisekedi’s submission to amend the law in order to secure an illegal third term.
The Lamuka Coalition launched the campaign dubbed “Don’t touch my constitution” on Wednesday, May 15 in Kinshasa with the Citizens’ Forum movement.
This campaign aims to raise awareness amongst the Congolese population on the understanding of the constitution in order to properly defend and protect it.
The ceremony for the launch of the campaign was organized as part of the fourth edition of the Congolese University of Citizen Engagement, a space for the promotion of citizen engagement for democracy, peace and good governance.
It should be noted that apart from Martin Fayulu, an unsuccessful presidential candidate in the December 20 election, several personalities also enhanced their presence at this event, including Jean-Claude Katende of ASADHO and Professor Thierry Landu of the University of Kinshasa.
