CRITICAL CONDITION: Hospitalized Salomon Kalonda Della’s Health Has Worsened

Salomon Kalonda Della’s health has deteriorated in the last 24 hours with the Special Advisor to lead opposition Ensemble Pour la Republique party leader Moïse Katumbi heavily dependant on an oxygen concentrator for his survival.

Incarcerated and charges with by authorities since 30 May 2023 on trumped up charges, Kalonda was two weeks ago transferred to hospital after taking ill in prison with his court hearing scheduled for 26th September postponed.

Human Rights NGO, ASADHO President Jean Claude Katende has revealed that Kalonda’s health has worsened with his family now left distressed.

Kalonda’s trial was due to continue today Monday, 9th October 2023 but is unlikely to go on with the defendant critically ill.

Widely referred to as President Fèlix Tshisekedi’s “personal prisoner”, Kalonda is one of the many allies of the opposition that have been suffered repression at the hands of the ruling government.
