COURTESY CALL: EU Representative Visits Moise Katumbi at His Residence

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo Nicolas Berlanga Martinez paid a courtesy call on opposition leader and businessman Moise Katumbi in Lubumbashi this Wednesday morning.

The EU chief accompanied by his team visited Katumbi at his Lubumbashi residence where the two leaders held critical discussions.

So far no official statements about the main objective of this seemingly crucial meeting have been released from either the EU or Katumbi’s party, Ensemble Pour la Republique party respectively.

Just yesterday, Katumbi met the United Kingdom (UK) Ambassador to the DRC Alyson King also at his private residence with his diplomatic advisor John Mbongi also present at the meeting.

Katumbi who emerged second in the 2023 presidential elections which were controversially won by incumbent Felix Tshisekedi, is considered a key figure by the international community both politically as well as economically in the DR Congo.
