Detained Opposition Ensemble Pour la Republique leader Moïse Katumbi’s special advisor Salomon Kalonda has been a long target of a trap set up by President Fèlix Tshisekedi’s Itinerant Ambassador Dany Banza Maloba to have him imprisoned since 2018.
Arrested since May, Kalonda took stand yesterday at Gombe Military Court in Kinshasa where his defense counsel exposed the cheap ploy by President Tshisekedi and Maloba.
Herve Diakiese, one of Kalonda’s lawyers, submitted a document that revealed that on 6th June 2023 at 19:02 a Judicial Police Officer of the military intelligence organization, DEMIAP, heard ANR agent Patrick Nyundo Wabaluba speak about his plotted contacts with Kalonda.
He further revealed Wabaluba had been tasked by the Tshisekedi’s Itinerant Ambassador, Dany Banza Maloba, to trap Kalonda by way of sending him insidious messages.
Meanwhile, Counsel Diakiese further asked the court to declare itself incompetent for bringing a civilian, Kalonda, before a Military Court.
The defense counsel argues that Kalonda is not a military personnel and the court is therefore out of order to bring a non-military person before its court.
The case has since been adjourned to Monday 25 September, 2023.
