A new report by the Amnesty International has revealed that the Congolese army (FARDC) had killed over 100 civilians in the war-plunged eastern region of the DR Congo.
The report is based on the ever-worsening security situation in eastern DR Congo where civilians are killed and put through hostilities by the very people deployed to protect them.
In the report it has been indicated that on August 30, 2023, soldiers of the special forces of the army killed in cold blood between 56 and 102 civilians and further committed other serious crimes in and around the city of Goma.
The situation in Goma and the rest of North Kivu Province remains tense with civilians opting to find refuge in territories controlled by M23 rebels.
