The Military Justice Court of Kinshasa has sentenced Ngoy Inabanza Félicien, first sergeant of the Republican Guard Unit (GR), to death for killing two civilians and injuring several others.
Sgt. Ngoy is said to have intentionally caused the murder of the three civilians at the public port of Goma on Saturday, 23 November 2024.
The soldier was found guilty of opening fire on the crowd, causing the death of two people including a motorbike rider and a passenger as while several others were left seriously injured.
The convicted soldier is said to have tried to seize money from the motorcycle rider who refused and in the end got shot dead at the spot in Goma.
