CLASSICO: Mazembe Beat Vita to Consolidate Top Spot on Linafoot Table

Lubumbashi giants TP Mazembe rallied to a crucial 2-0 victory over rivals AS Vita Club on Sunday in a LINAFOOT Play-off encounter dubbed the Congolese “El Classico”.

The match played at the Pentecost Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa saw Mazembe’s in-form Malian striker Fily Traoré scored a brace to propel the Ravens to victory.

Traoré opened the scores for Mazembe in the 18th minute to take the lead with a brilliant effort taken from the penalty spot to stretch his goal tally to 18 this season.

The Malian international would produce another spectacular moment as he scored once again with an acrobatic effort to extend Mazembe’s lead.

Vita pulled one back in the dying minutes of the match through Kika Bushiri but the goal would only prove to be a consolation as the CAF Champions League semi-finalists of this season secured victory.

Mazembe are still top of the Linafoot Play-off table with 18 points after six matches played and have two games in hand.
