China will soon deliver military drones (in the picture) to help the Democratic Republic of Congo curtail rebel insurgence in the eastern parts of the country.
According to military officials on the frontline in North and South Kivu, the equipment would be delivered on request from the DRC leader President Felix Tshisekedi.
The Congolese soldiers believe drones will help bolster its efforts in fending off the notorious M23 believed to be back by Rwanda.
“The embargo for Congo to purchase arms was lifted so China has agreed to help out. We will be better equipped to take on the enemy,” the senior army official said.
M23 rebels and Islamic militants have caused untold misery in the war in eastern Congo with Rwanda being accused of supporting former.
