The Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) insist that the 2023 DRC General Elections will be held on 20th December as initially scheduled.
With just less than 60 days to election day,
several concerns have been raised over the readiness of the commission to hold the election with a number issues including voter registration in some areas still pending.
However, CENI has reiterated its determination and expressed optimism it will hold the elections within the constitutional deadline.
Speaking on Monday at the close of the level 2 of the training of poll staff, CENI deputy spokesperson Paul Mohindo Mulemberi said the training exercise had been conducted scrupulously and well in line with the established timetable.
The trained poll staff are now expected to enter level 3 of the training exercise underwhich more than 349,000 electoral agents will be trained with the view to hold flawless elections on December 20.
Meanwhile, Mulemberi further declared that all necessities were in place for the CENI to start distributing electoral materials in all polling stations across the country.
