CATHOLIC BISHOPS: Don’t Leave Polling Station After Voting In December; No One Should Steal Your Vote

Catholic Bishops have made a clarion call to Congolese voters not to abandon their polling stations when they vote on December 20, 2023 to ensure that their vote is credibly counted.

The Secretary General of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO), Bishop Donatien N’shole sent a message to the Congolese population regarding the general elections, scheduled for December 20.

During a press conference held on the sidelines of the closing of the 60th session of the conference of bishops earlier today, Bishop N’shole said, “Given the unfortunate experiences of past cycles, let us not leave the polling stations until we post the results.

“The display of the results at the level of the polling stations will have already given a clear idea of the winners.”

Bishop N”shole said the Congolese people had the right to stop their votes from being stolen and stop anyone from cheating in the polls.

The Catholic Church has demanded that the next elections must be free, transparent, credible and inclusive.
