BRUTAL TSHISEKEDI: Coalition For Social Justice Fingers Tshisekedi In Police’s Brutality Against Opposition Protestors

The Coalition for Social Justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo have linked President Fèlix Tshisekedi to the the recent ugly scenes in Kinshasa where the National Police pounced on protestors to halt a solidarity march by the opposition.

On Saturday May 20, 2023, police fired tear gas and were seen with live ammunition as they swung into action to disperse protestors with a several left injured.

The Coalition for Social Justice have since cited President Tshisekedi’s for his involvement in the police’s violence against defenceless citizens.

“We, The Coalition for Social Justice, although we did not participate in yesterday’s march, on Saturday May 20, because we considered that our essential demand concerning the elaboration of a new electoral law which gives to all eligible Congolese, the possibility of being a candidate and avoiding any discrimination for financial reasons was not taken into account, deplore and strongly condemn the violence unleashed by the police and other security services on citizens (members of political parties and others) marching peacefully, after having agreed with the city authorities to hold the march on this date,” The Coalition For Social Justice wrote in a press statement released on Sunday.
