ANTI-DEMOCRATIC ACT: Tshisekedi Condemns Attack On Martin Fayulu By His Supporters In Kasai

Republican President Fèlix Tshisekedi has described has an anti-democratic act an incident that transpired in Tshikapa, Kasai Province where opposition candidate Martin Fayulu’s motorcade was attacked by the ruling UDPS party cadres.

Arriving in Tshikapa on Saturday as part of his pre-election tour of the Kasai region, Fayulu’s survived a death scare as Tshisekedi’s supporters pelted projectiles at his motorcade with the windshield of his vehicle smashed.

Fayulu managed to proceede and held his political meeting at Kalay Field in the commune of Dibumba where he called for unity, cohesion and appealed to the UDPS party cadres to desist ensuing violence this election period.

Meanwhile, President Tshisekedi has also regretted and condemned the acts of his supporters against Fayulu.

“The President wishes to express his regret of the political intolerance which Martin Fayulu has been a victim of” Tshisekedi said through his spokesperson Tina Salama.

“He strongly condemns the anti-democratic acts by some of our compatriots and urges the Congolese people to show tolerance towards all political candidates.”

It is not the first an opposition leader has been attacked by Tshisekedi’s UDPS party cadres in Kasai region with Delly Sesanga having also suffered similar ambush back in July.
