A WASTE OF TIME: New Defence Minister Meets Failed & Dumped Jean-Pierre Bemba

Democratic Republic of Congo new Minister of Defence Guy Mwadianvita has met his predecessor Jean-Pierre Bemba to discuss issues relating to the ministry as well as the security situation in the country.

On Monday, Mwadianvita paid a courtesy call on Jean-Pierre Bemba who has since been transferred to the Ministry of Transport following a failed term of office in which the security situation in the eastern part of the country deteriorated to its worst.

Now tasked with overturning the former rebel leader and war-crimes convict’s failed, Mwadianvita has a lot of expectations on his shoulders from the Congolese population.

Mwadianvita would be be better off focusing on orientations of military officers and listening to the concerns of the population on the ground rather than exchanging with his predecessor who failed miserably.

For Jean-Pierre Bemba, he may continue finding consolation in his new Transport portfolio after been screwed by Felix Tshisekedi who had promised him key roles in government after been sent to attack opposition leader Moise Katumbi in the 2023 election campaigns.
