Following the tragic massacre that resulted in the death of 51 civilians in the city of Goma of North Kivu Province, the DR Congo government however, has no day to spare some thoughts or mourn the deceased victims who were gruesomely murdered by the police and military during the demonstrations.
While the nation continues mourns the departed the victims, Interior & Security Minister Peter Kazadi has sworn to pound even more misery on the surviving victims by taking them through flagrant trials for what he terms as “marching against the law”.
“The state of siege prohibits all public demonstrations of this magnitude, just with that we had to close the debate. They marched against the law, they are at the root of what was happening in what you called human butchery. For this they must also be tried as much as soldiers who have slipped, this is also called the rule of law and justice,” Kazadi said during a briefing with the press held on Wednesday.
Kazadi has also shamelessly backed the police for their action to fire live ammunition at defenseless civilians who took to the streets to demonstrate against the presence of the MONUSCO and EAC forces in Goma.
The government has accused the citizens of Goma of having “carried out actions that undermined the public order” that called for the “intervention of the police to restore tranquility and serenity in the city”.
