ALL TALK NO ACTION: Tshisekedi Once Again Reaffirms Stance On M23 Rebels & Determination To Protect The DR Congo From Rwanda

Republican President Fèlix Tshisekedi has once again pledged to restore sanity to the eastern DR Congo, a promise he has failed to deliver since he was voted into office with his four-year mandate coming to its climax this December.

Violence has been raging in North Kivu Province with the security situation in the territory now a major concern, President Tshisekedi called for an emergency press conference in New York, US where his set to deliver a speech at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

As in past times when he reassured the Congolese citizenry, Tshisekedi spoke resolutely and did not hesitate to point the finger at neighboring Rwanda and leader President Paul Kagame, for allegedly supporting to the M23 Rebel Group which he described as a “group of criminals”.

“About the M23, I will tell you that it is a group of criminals embarked on a criminal adventure led by Mr. Paul Kagame. They have committed atrocities and continue to commit more,” President Tshisekedi said.

Tshisekedi said the DR Congo was well prepared and swore to fight Rwanda in order to protect the country.

“We say enough is enough, we have strengthened our capacities, we are I can say today in a position to be able to face any adversity coming from this country (Rwanda) and I do not exclude any scenario to defend our country” Tshisekedi declared.

Tshisekedi’s declaration which has come in a particular tense context follows an official request sent by the DR Congo to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate crimes committed in North Kivu Province since January, 2022.
