FRAUDULENT ELECTIONS: Martin Fayulu Calls For Auditing of Insane-Costing 2023 Elections

Opposition ECIDE party president Martin Fayulu has strongly criticized the cost pronounced by the Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) for the shambolic December 2023 presidential elections.

Fayulu has called on CENI to account for the mammoth $1.3 billion of Congolese tax payers money it claims to have spent on the chaotic polls without any audit being carried out so far.

The ECIDE leader who came third in the presidential behind Moise Katumbi and Felix Tshisekedi, stressed the DR Congo citizenry deserves to be briefed on how public funds were utilized just as was done after the 2018 elections.

“Six months later, it is incomprehensible that the CENI is still not audited. Mr. Naanga and Mr. Basengezi have been sanctioned by the U.S. for actions similar to those of Mr. Kadima and his team,” Fayulu said.

In 2018, the United States sanctioned then CENI President Corneille Nangaa for what it termed as “persistent corruption” during the December 2018 elections.

Nangaa who later confessed to having connived with Tshisekedi to rig the 20218 elections, had been accused by the US Treasury of embezzling operational funds from the CENI for personal and political gain.
