Seven DR Congo boxers have made it into the final eight round of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris, France next year.
The seven, including five men and two women, are set to compete for a place at the Summer Games in the quarter-finals of the qualifiers to be held on Wednesday, 13th September in Dakar, Senegal.
The DR Congo has seen standout performances from its boxers and will be looking to have more athletes in the boxing discipline in Paris from the previous four that represented the country at last edition in Tokyo.
However, the DR Congo boxers face stiff competition from opponents from North Africa.
But the Congolese boxers will also draw confidence from their last outing at the African Championships in Yaounde, Cameroon where they finished second for the first time in the country’s history.
