DR Congo national team captain Chancel Mbemba and striker Fiston Mayele Kalala have both been nominated for the prestigious Men’s African Player of Year Award to be handed out at the 2023 CAF Awards on 11th December.
Midfielder Glody Makabi Lilepo, now with Valenciennes in the French Ligue 2, has also been nominated for the CAF Inter-clubs Player of the Year Award after a successful season with Al Hilal SC of Sudan last season.
Mbemba who had an outstanding season in the French Ligue 1 with Olympique Marseille, and Kalala are among 30 African players that have been nominated for the African Player of the Year Award.
Meanwhile, Kalala has also joined Lilepo among the 20 players that have been nominated for the Inter-clubs Player of the Year after his awe-inspiring campaign in the Confederation Cup with Tanzanian giants Yanga SC.
Kalala guided Yanga to the final of the Confed Cup last season and emerged top scorer of the competition with 7 goals.
The CAF Awards are set to be held on 11th December, 2023 in the city of Marrakesh, Morocco.
