STUBBORN LEADER: Tshisekedi Refuses to Dialogue For Peace to Return in Eastern DRC

DR Congo president Félix Tshisekedi has once again reiterated that he will not negotiate with the M23 rebels in order find a peace solution in North Kivu region.

Tshisekedi has instead uttered provoking sentiments against the M23 who continue to cause havoc in the eastern region thus leading to the displacement of thousands.

Tshisekedi reaffirmed his attachment to the Luanda peace process with Rwanda but underlined that the continued advancement of the M23 rebellion means the war will continue in the east.

“We will never cease to reaffirm our position that dialogue with a terrorist group like the M23 is a red line that we will never cross. Any attempt to normalize or legitimize these criminals constitutes an insult to the memory of the victims and an affront to the fundamental principles of international law,” Tshisekedi said when he hosted foreign diplomats accredited to the DRC this Saturday.

The M23 rebels have continued their advancement in North Kivu having managed to seize strategic territories including the Masisi region recently in North Kivu.
